Last Ride in November :(

 What a beautiful day !
They said we are going to get winter today! So I gassed up the Hog and drove around Utah Lake !  As you can see from the photo's just a little fog on the water with snow caped mouintains in the background !! It dosen't get any better than that ! I had to charge the battery up before the snow comes ! I'm not sure my wife will buy that excuse for a ride :)  It was just a bit clilly but, Fresh air in your face ROCKS !!!  Nothing like hearing that old Harley purring like a kitten !

   



 The growth arond the lake is so high this year with all the water ! The browns will all be white in a short while ! The lake was so peacfull and still ! With the possibilities of 50 to 70 mile an hour winds today, that will change !   







Ok lecture time !  Get out there and take advantage of what is around you ! How can you not love Utah ?  I keep forgetting This is a desert state !   Don't forget the nikon when you go ! :)  It makes you really look for things to take pictures of, and see a ton more !

Bucks & Ducks !!

     Good Morning !  I know I said I was going to go yesterday and try and get a few picks of a nice buck ! I also said it might not happen !  This little guy was all I found.  Not ,what I had hoped for but none the same,still a buck in the rut !  He had a small group of 12 does with him !  I wish his dad had been around but no such luck ! I will be back ! I don't give up that easy ! This little buck was so worried about his does that he paid little attention to me.  Still even though a small buck , how cool he thinks he is ! The good part is he will shed those little antlers in the spring and grow a new set a little bigger !! Given time he will follow in his dads foot steps and become a monster buck !

       The Duck picture is one pretty common to all of us ! The Green head Mallard has so much color that I love to take photo's of it !
        Just being able to take these pictures yesterday made  my day !

Monday ! After the the holiday Blues !

 I think I feel more like the snail this morning ! I put on 6lbs. this weekend ! It was all soo good !  Thanksgiving treated me right ! So today started with a gym work out that was not up to my expectations ! I was just like the snail , slow and going no where fast ! Did I just say fast ? Oops ! Funny how it is hard to get started again on the weights after a few short days off ! 

    These little snails thrived on my garden this year ! They would eat the flowers on every squash and every plant that flowered this summer !  They made for a good pix and that is all they were good for ! Again just trying to appreciate all the things around us ! This one takes a little work ! If you look up close at them , they are pretty interesting ! 

       The Dragon Fly is and amazing insect ! Transparent wings and cool colors There are so many things to see !  Enjoy !

Black Friday !!!!!!!!!!!

 What a great day yesterday to be with alot of our family !  Its always hard to miss the ones who are not there. They are loved ! 

So last night I drove up to Best buy at 9:00 pm . 200 people there in tents, lawn chairs, and blankets !  Some of those tents were there on Tuesday !  Then at midnight they gave 10 tickets to purchase 42in TVs  for 199. ! Lets see now what are my chances of staying up all night and getting one of those ?  NOT !!!   They are about as good as me being able to draw on a Henry Mountain deer tag ! It ain'ta gonna happen ! May I just say that the wild life in inner city Utah is alive and well ! Wow how crazy are we ?  Well I guess to each his own ! 
      Some may say that crawling up a tree to take pix of a cougar is insane ! So there you have it  ! Maybe it's a good thing that we are all so diversified ,and see things in our own distinct way ! Hummmm :)

Sorry about the Turkey shots !  They were the only live Turkeys that I came across !  The only other turkey I saw had been shot , cooked , and was on the table !   Life is good  :)  Have a great day, and remember to admire all that we have in life !         The Bear !!!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving

Wow up this morning so thankful for all we have !  So thankful for all those who have gone before, and have made it possible for us to enjoy the life we ALL have.   Special thanks to My Parents for all their love ! So thankful for my wife and all of our family !

The pix on top was from Tuesday evening walking up the canyon to enjoy nature ! The rush of the water and surroundings always make me stop in amazement!  Thanks Dad , and Grandpa !  Some times I think I get it , thanks to you both !  I think that is why I love to be in the mountains . It make me stop and do a reality check on life !

This is again the sunset from the other night ! Funny how fast the color is there and then disappears so fast ! There was about a 5 minute window of opportunity to see it , and then it was gone ! There were no colors added , or enhancements.

"Incredible Sunset"

 Good Wednesday morning ! I took a short ride to the mountain last night.Coming home the sky was on FIRE ! If you missed it , here it is ! That was the most color I have seen ! Just happen to have the Nikon with me :) I am learning to take my camera with me all the time. When you are looking for pix to take to share, its crazy what you see.
    Thank you for those who have become followers ! It makes what I am doing worth while ! It's a passion ! I know my wife thinks I have lost it ! I crawl around and take pix of every thing !
   
     Now the next two pix i will need a little help on ! I'm not sure if Camels are native to Utah or that they are even wild ! But in Alpine theses two are Enjoying the desert :)  Is Utah a desert ?    I had to take a picture of them. The pix on the bottom has a face only a mother could love ! I let my mother-in-law see these pix and she though I had captured the Camels Best side !

Dang Woodpecker :) !!!!!

 Yes there is a story with the dang woodpecker ! For the past week every morning at 6:45 am, yes "am " this fine little thing is on my house pecking the stucco. Go figure ! I run out the back door only to see him fly away laughing at me ! Now why " WOOD " (no pun intended) he be pecking stucco ? Well I have no answer, but he was on my hunt list ! Not sure you can eat them but !! OK I did get him this morning ! He flew to the fence and I shot him :)  Then he left the area only to return I'm sure and tap again on my house at 6:45 am. ! Cool bird ! It is amazing what goes on right under our feet and we never get the opportunity to see and enjoy it !

The berry bush was on the way to the gym and i couldn't resist stopping and taking a shot ! This cluster was so full !  So lecture for the day ," Stop and take time to smell the roses "! Have a great Tuesday !

Good morning Utah

Good morning Utah ! 

Just a note about the pix today ! I took the pix of this bull two years ago !  I had to scan it in because it was taken with my old Nikon  N80 camera ! The originals are way cool ! This bull was just running another bull away from his cows during the rut ! The rut is the best thing going on in the mountains during September ! The sound that rolls through the canyons will imprint deep in your mind once you have heard it . I love it ! The other pix is off Sundays creation !  Thanks to my wife , and daughter.  Onions covered in cream cream cheese,with Cheddar & Monterey Jack Cheese !  Wow sooo good :)

Not sure i am ready for snow to fly, but it will make for some cool pix ! Have a great day :) The Bear !!!

Crap ! I'm Mr. Mom Today !

 Wow ! Do you ever think you are going to get up and do all these fantastic things today ? Well so did I  !  that's when I was informed that I am Mister Mom today ! Some times the Man Cave gets visitors from some where, who direct me to do some thing different :) Sons 13th birthday so I'm getting balloons , pizza, video game, and what ever else I'm told ! Sorry Hun :) Ok its all good  !  I did make it to the gym today ! Some thing to do with my biological clock makes me go :)
         The pix is of a storm two weeks ago. Just watched it roll in early in the morning . I have some cool pix of it. I will put  them on another day. The bird ! Well that's another story :)  So what kind of bird is it ? I will soon put a few bear pix on ! So Please come back Monday when I hope to be out of the DOG House and Back to the Cave ! Introducing the Bear

I grew up in Mt. Pleasant Utah ! My grandfather, and father inspired me to love the outdoors !  They always looked for all the little things and appreciate them ! That started my love for the mountains . The cougar pix was last year and he still roams ! Walking through two feet of snow for miles tracking a Cougar can get in your blood ! They are a beautiful animal ! Most people will never see one in the wild ! Just being a few feet from one is so cool ! 

Just a little explanation why the name" The Bear" ! I hunted bear for the first time 35 years ago. I took a bear with my re curve bow that my grand father gave me when he could no longer pull it back ! My family doubted me being able to do this. I was lucky enough to prove them wrong ! I haven't hunted for years, but love to hunt with my Nikon. I think there is no better hunting feeling than to get the shot with my camera ! And at 56  it is so much easier to pack home :)  Hope you will come back and see what is here tomorrow:) Have a great day !   The Bear
